After a drive from Moshi to the gate, we start our climb through the lush Rain Forest. The 6 km climb takes about 3-4 hours, and we settle in at Mti Mkubwa Camp for dinner and overnight.

Leaving the forest behind, we ascend into the heather moorland zone. The 8 km climb lasts 5-6 hours, with scenic views along the way. We reach Shira 1 Camp at 11,500 ft for the night.

Taking time to acclimatize, we climb through the Moorland and cross the Shira Plateau. The 7-hour climb covers 11 km, and we overnight at Shira 2 Camp at 12,379 ft.

Day 4 : Shira 2 Camp to Lava Tower (15,190 ft) and Barranco Camp (13,044 ft).

We face a challenging day as we ascend to Lava Tower at 15,190 ft and then descend to Barranco Camp. The total distance is approximately 14 km, taking 7 hours to complete.

This day provides an opportunity to adjust to the altitude. We embark on a steep ridge climb, passing the Barranco Wall and exploring the Karanga Valley. After lunch, we return to the campsite for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 6 : Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp (15,331 ft).

Leaving Karanga Valley, we continue to the junction leading to the Mweka Trail. Our destination is Barafu Camp at 15,331 ft, where we set up camp for the night. This 8-hour climb covers a distance of 9.4 km.

Day 7 : Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak (19,341 ft), then to Mweka Camp (10,065 ft).

We start our summit push in the early morning, hiking in darkness towards Uhuru Peak, the highest point of Kilimanjaro. After reaching the summit, we descend to Mweka Camp via Barafu Camp. The total distance is 4.5 km uphill and 10.7 km downhill. The climb to the summit takes 7-8 hours, while the descent to Mweka Camp lasts 6-8 hours.
